Working On: A Mom’s Retreat
The best part about working in podcast production is when you get the chance to edit a podcast that really hits home — and this one is a perfect example. I was pleased to work with the new podcast A Mom’s Retreat to edit the first three episodes of a series ahead of its April 9th, 2020 launch — right smack dab in the middle of the first few weeks of Covid-19 self isolation across much of North America.
This podcast is a great example of a show that launched right when listeners needed it the most. I think we can all agree that parenting is hard, and that in a pandemic parenting is basically one meltdown after another (for kids and adults). Lynn Lyons is a psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, an author and a speaker. She and her sister-in-law Robin Hutson of Luxe Recess (a luxury travel site geared towards families) launched the podcast after mixing both of their passions together and collaborating on a mom’s retreat last year. A physical mom’s retreat is just not in the cards in the near future, so the pair are bringing the retreat to your headphones with A Mom’s Retreat.
Right now, parents need a lot of support. We all do. So, if you’re feeling a big hit to your ability to keep calm under Covid pressure take a listen to A Mom’s Retreat. In their first week they hit #4 in the US on the Apple Podcasts chart and jumped to #1 in Canada last week under Parenting podcasts. It’s no wonder, this is exactly the tonic we need right now.
A big thank you to Robin and Lynn for trusting Folktale Studio with the editing of their first few episodes. It’s so nice to be able to make connections through a crisis — especially when that connection is there to help other parents.
